School is only five weeks away and I still have so much to do to get ready! I've noticed all the school stuff getting put out on the shelves in the stores and that always gets me a little excited. I like going school shopping for paper, notebooks, sharpies, pencils (Dixon Ticonderoga of course), and I shop for books all the time. This summer I've been working on my classroom library some more. I had a few boxes of books that I still needed to level and label. I'm almost finished with that. It's the stuff I need to get done that I never seem to have time for during the school year. I also am pulling out some books that I have duplicates for and I'm making a "buddy book" section for my classroom library. I want to be able to have books that my students can read in partnerships. I'm kinda excited about incorporating that into my reading instruction. I also just finished reading the book, The Leader in Me by Stephen R. Covey since our school is going to incorporate the leadership principles taught with the 7 Habits. Before school starts, I want to finish getting my library organized, including a reading corner. I also am working on student data binders, and ways to incorporate Science, Social Studies and Math Notebooks. With the emphasis on reading and writing in the Common Core, I want to integrate reading and writing even more in all subject areas. I love getting ideas on Pinterest and now I just need some time to process all those good ideas into something concrete I can use in my classroom!
